Do you love big bluegill?
Always search for clues to why you’re catching fish in the area you’re in when so many areas look alike. The two biggest factors for most species is availability of forage and shelter….when I moved here over twenty five years ago I did a lot of research on the Albemarle Estuary, keeping in mine I had an advantage of fishing brackish waters my entire life growing up in Louisiana and landing in coastal South Carolina when I joined the Navy. Fast forward I learned how important the resurgence of the river otter population is on the Albemarle. Turns out I love to see river otters working in my fishing areas. They eat a variety of creatures including four species of clams which provides the Shellcracker a chance to come through and clean up and prey on the snails that try to feed on the remnants……
