Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Yesterday, Greg and I charted suspended Fish (LOADS OF THEM) suspended outside a weed line drop off .The fish I suspected as being Crappie possibly were half way down in 30 feet of water .I could not catch a one .I was using various plastic baits vertical Jigging .Any advice on catching suspended fish would be appreciated.
Tough day Fishing with Brother yesterday .Water Temp 76-78 degrees. Some very small Bass and Pickerel (about 6)in the pad pockets on wacky Worm, one on a spoon up on a ledge . One Decent 15.5" Bass on a Sluggo.Dink Bass on a Tiny Torpedo over a Flat near a drop off.A lost Perch Trolling a Bomber Crank bait in 12', and a Cutoff (Pickerel) on a Reaper Style plastic bait.

Thanks Jim and Jeffrey -

Jeffrey-The 1st time i used a Sluggo was back in the mid 80's .I pulled up on a Dock in my boat and caught 3 Bass on 3 consecutive casts.I was sold on them .I have a picture in my wallet of a 21.5" ,5,1/2 # Bass I caught on a Sluggo a few years after that .That was a June fish from the lake I caught this one pictured.

Jim I use Keitech Easy Shiners but haven't used Fin S Fish in a long time .What kind of Jig heads and weights and what size Baits were those Smallies smashing ?

Nice fish John.......I still remember the first pack of Sluggos we ever got.........caught some great fish on the Toledo Bend Reservoir on that bait..........it fished so weedless in all the grass beds and heavy cover........I'll never forget those trips with my dad!
