We stayed above freezing but dropped to 37 this morning from near 80 at dark last night......weather will remain unpredictable despite the evolution of 10 day forecasts.....LOL....Storng winds from the North will be a henderence the remainder of this week which drops levels in the Northern Albemarle rivers and hurts fishing some, but patient anglers will capitalize with a major frenzy as the shift to a southerly flow will push water and all the new life back into the cypress later this week and eager panfish will follow.......Good Friday has always represented something good in my region for fishing and 2014 appears to be no different at this point......
it was down to 28 degrees here last nite!! high for today- if it makes it- mid 50;s
Thanks Carl.......we should begin to see a few in the weeks ahead.......I am grateful to have locations that hold quality sunfish in multiple species.......In addition to solid redears, I catch trophy coppernose, warmouth and fliers in this same body of water, often during the same trip during late spring excursions......
beautiful pair of crackers Jeffery!!
This particular creek has often produced a variety of hybrids Dick and I'm not sure the same hasn't occured with the Redears.....I've caught fish with white ear tabs for many years in this body of water.....it has always sparked my interest though......
Great looking crackers. Jeffrey are these females funny seeing white around the ear flap I thought the female's were absent of red around the ear flap.
Time to swim some red wigglers in this region too.....swamp crackers.....
I've got some wigglers set aside for a return to this creek.....need to see how big the females are getting in this region.....A biologist tells me the Shellcrackers here are gorging on tiny blue crabs as well which supports abundant growth as well.......
Thanks Leo and Adam.......these are motivating fish.........
Really nice pair of fish.
