Do you love big bluegill?
You can see how low the water was on this day......the normal water line is high lighted by the dark color on the weeds and cypress.....

Some of my favorite times growing up were during the Spring back in the 70s, walk out of school and see my dad in line to pick me up with the boat in tow as we headed to some of our favorite fishing grounds with fly rods and crickets......A big glass of mom's sweet tea in the console and a pack of "nabs", 10 minutes later we had our old fiberglass skiff launched on the bayou and dad would paddle us up and down until we ran out of bait or good light....We repeated this as often as we could in places like Lewisburg Canal, Tchefuncte River, Bayou Cane, Big Branch Bayou, Bayou Lacombe and many other southeastern Louisiana haunts......Those days were a lot better than I realized until they were gone......
There is nothing like fishing with your family. I remember some of the first times I went fishing and it was with my Dad. He passed about a year and a half ago, but the great memories of the times we shared fishing will be with me forever. I owe my life long love of fishing to him.
Thanks Carl....I truly value every trip we make together......it's a bonus when we can catch a few gills and shoot the breeze over a southern fish fry.......Good lord willing, they'll get here in early June for another Team Abney Bluegill vacation.....Carolina Style........
buddy hope your dad lives to be a million! tkae him fishing as much as you can
Already fired up about another family tradition this Summer on the Carolina Blackwaters......Good eats, great fishing equals good family times!
