Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Dick I go in the chest and out the end of the tail with the barb set......This leaves the legs free for some movement since you avoid hooking the head.....If I want to go weedless I keep the hook point in the cricket's tail but stuck.......This is a 1/32 ounce jig and deadly fished this way.....

No.....I fish too much to make baits too Chuck....LOL.......Eagle Claw makes my favorite ones in 1/32 ounce....come in nice multi packs in several different colors.....

Do you paint them yourself?

This is one pattern of a Splash Jig that I like Chuck.....the pink isn't clearly visible in this shot and this one actually has five colors......thousands of gills is pretty convincing to me......Santee Cooper, Toledo Bend, Southern Bayous, Douglas Lake and the Chesapeake Bay & Albemarle Sound Estuaries.......also caught several thousand Crappie over the years on this style jig.......

Yeah......don't have many dinks hanging around when these big fish pile up....if I catch five dink gills.....I move.....normally not an issue in the waters I fish....little fish hide...

Tough being a cricket with you around, Jeff! :-)

But a nice job. Probably keeps the bait stealing to a minimum.
