Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

What a tough day... marked very few fish, and the ones I did encounter were very timid. Even If they followed the jig up, that was no guarantee they would commit. And in fact, many didn't.

I tried a multitude of jigs and patterns, but still couldn't figure em' out. ended up with 10 gills, and half a dozen bass. All released.

I hear you Jim. This winter has been a good one for me in regards to ice fishing. Our ponds have the thickest ice I have ever seen, and I have been able to spend many hours doing what I love. In addition, I traveled to Illinois for a few days, fished on even thicker ice over there, pulled two species through the hole that were new to me, spent time fishing alongside and hanging out with the In-Fisherman crew, and shared the frozen surface with some talented anglers and great friends, including Bruce!

If the winter season were to end today, I could not have asked for it to be any better.

16 fish...a bad day?  I'd be pleased with that! Drew the skunk yesterday...had two big fish on, but they just came undone before I could get them through the hole. Saw the one, about a 4 pound largemouth. Never saw the other one...ran drag then came off. Only two hits I had in a three hour effort.

Good job, Tony!. At least we're ice fishing this year!

Good work on a tough day Tony . Looking forward to going again and realize mid ice season can be very tough indeed . Lockjaw and very sluggish feeding presents a huge challenge!
