Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This gator was killed during a recent hunting lottery on Lake Moultrie. This guy is gone but there are many more so Float Tubing and Wading are out for me!

Pretty common sight in FL.
Seen many while fishing, and just generally being out of doors.

fished okeechobee and the surrounding canals a few times.had a big gator sunning on a high bank.my brother who hates gators tells me ,"that thing is dead".with that comment i threw a zara spook and hit the "dead" gator in the head.well his eyes opened and he came back to life real quick and nearly landed in the boat.he then rolled under the boat and whacked the side with his tail.i still laugh thinking about it.they were every where especially at night near the fish cleaning shed that had a chute into the water.wish i was in florida right now

I have snorkeled in springs in Florida where you would see them in the weeds along the sides. Spooky to see the silhouette from under water. Very clear water ; they weren't super close.

Leo, I think if you came close to one, you'd be involuntarily dispensing gator repellant.......

If you get to the Santee Cooper lakes soon.......beware.........this big dinosaur has been removed but there are hundreds of big gators still in those lakes........

I agree David...I'm glad they're protected in North Carolina so I can see them in the wild when I'm fishing......not as often as Louisiana and South Carolina but still cool when I do......

What a bruiser! I would love to see one that size in the wild, not hung up for dead.
