Do you love big bluegill?
The pond we fished today has bluegills and redbreast sunfish. This fish appears that it may be a hybrid of the two. Humphead of the male bluegill, smaller mouth than a straight redbreast, no distinct barring (redbreast trait), copper colored breast rather than the bright red/orange of the RB ( a bluegill trait), earflap is darker than most RB, and shorter than most RB.
Anybody else care to take a stab at it? To me, this is a unique fish!

Hey Bruce...if I recall correctly, wasn't your hybrid from Richmond Mill determined to be a hybrid...a bluegill/redbreast hybrid? Not THAT fish has some photo documentation, and size!
MOST DEFINATELY DESERVANT OF A FEATURE !THIS IS A VERY COOL LOOKING FISH!
Nice.
Two great fish in one hybrid . I believe this is the first one I've seen. Thanks Jim great fish!
I think you nailed it Jim. BG x RB hybrid.
Truly intriguing. Keep those hybrids coming. This is awesome documentation. Is this more redbreast than bluegill based on characteristics, say 60% RB vs 40% BG?
oops it was in the title... i'm not stupid but i'm dumb
is that a pumpkinseed or a hybrid? whatever it is great fish Jim!
