Do you love big bluegill?
JOE and I went to great pond on Memorial day and did a bit of fishing from shore . WIND WAS BRUTAL and blew 30 mph all day long. Joe got a nice little bass on a bug and so did I . No gills or crappies couldn't cast out far enough ....

Congrats on a well deserved fish.
Hey guys...I do 95% of my fishing from shore. I have found that there are two ways to combat strong winds when shore fishing. Either fish with the wind directly in your face or blowing directly behind you. Always keep a tight line between you and the bait/lure/bobber so as to detect strikes. Once you go 'cross-wind' you open all kinds of doors for big bows in the line...and missed strikes.
Of course, you can't always position yourself for a 'in-line' presentation to the fish due to other, physical conditions. Hope this helps.
Well spent day. Not sure if you were more tired on casting or battling the wind as you stand.
Tootie ... i had to finally go to the longer rods to do any good at all in these winds... i have no idea on how many fish hits ive missed with the bow in the line... congrats to you on anything you catch in these conditions... especially from shore.
