Yeah, Leo, that Beetle Spin was my own build - a wire frame-n-blade combo, with added jig body and tail.
Im looking forward to seeing what the Colorado Spinners will do....
Nice male BG!!
Good looking gill David.....
Another chunky gill, responding to the Beetle Spin "drum beat." This one gave a nice accounting on the hook...
In the past, Beetle Spins never did anything for me. This season, however, changed all that. The B-Spin has become a go-to lure, and is a reliable search tool. Lets just say it's been an adventure. That's a 1/32 oz., chartreuse and white jig head.
Next to try are some good old fashioned Colorado Spinners. I make them myself from:
2 - #10 swivels
2 - 3-5mm split rings
1 - #1-#0 Colorado blade
1 - #6 bait holder single hooks.
Testing in my nearby pond indicates bluegill *will* hit them and hold on tightly in the bargain. They can be fished slowly, too, which makes them ideal for sunfish. I add a twist-tail or Slider grub for some extra action and to decrease their snag potential. The downside is their light weight - they are short range, ultra light lures.
