Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

My favorite color beetle spin is the "catalpa worm" color.

Ah-ha Jeff has given the secret - its fished when the live worms are falling!

I assumed the thing called the fish from far and wide at any time of the year!

I haven't seen a live catalpa worm in ages. We always used em' for catfish bait.... turned inside out on the hook of course! Not for the overly squeamish!

My grandfather introduced me to this color at an early age in the 70s and he insisted that it was Catalpa Worm and I have always kept some in my tackle box and catch fish on them! We had trees on his farm that produced the live worms every spring but we would throw this little spin while fishing the live worms under a cork.......Great times...

Is that what that is supposed to represent- a catalpa worm?

You've caught fish with them?

My go to colors are white pearl in the plastics and I always try different colors on my jig heads. Usually in the reds and chartreuse's. I learn a long time ago to use more than one color. That gives you a better chance for a bite especially if it's a certain color they want so you have a little better chance for that bite.

Does anyone else have good results on this color? This is one of my favorites and I catch catfish, bass, crappie, bluegill and white perch on this bait........
