Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Was at the local discount store today with Lori, and picked up a little girls "princess" feather boa - bright pink.
Always looking for contrast in a fly, Inspiration struck and the Blackhead was born.
Red Marabou tag tail.
Black thread body
Pink Marabou quill (not blood quill)
Black chenille head
Bead Chain eyes

Wrap thread full length from eye, and return to eye.
Tie on beat chain eyes. Dab drop of CA.
Return thread to hook point and tie in tail.
Tie in marabou quill at hook point and return thread forward.
Tie in chenille 1/4" behind eye.
PALMER marabou forward to chenille and tie off. Wrap thread to bead eyes.
Wrap chenille head and tie off.
Super easy! This should have a seductively slow sink and good twitch response. Choose your colors and go to it!

I dunno how this pic reappeared - I was just sorting pics around in my albums. I guess that triggers the re-posting.

Anyway, thanks Dick. And yeah, we can blame Tooty for some of it. He sent me the first tied flies I had seen in decades. He has enabled me pretty steadily, too. Along with him, we can also blame Carl Hendrix and Vince Fusco. All three came together at around the same time to urge me to take a stab at tying flies.

Carl sent me the vise I now use, along with some samples of flies he had tied. Vince, 'ol Vince, well, he piled a bunch of surplus materials on me. So, this tying fixation was actually the result of three different guys getting me started each, in a different way. Taken together, it was both humbling and serendipitous.

And again master Tooty has created another monster a person with thread and feathers and chenille in his veins.

Short notice name, Leo. What can I say?

LOL! Love the name. Pink color and blackhead as a name..man, talking about a name that will be ingrained into a person's mind..

Thanks Tooty! I was also thinking bass.

This one is on a #8 2X streamer hook. I tied a similar thing, without the chenille, on a #8 Sproat. Its called 'Stumpy Cotton Candy.'
