Poly "Fun Fur"

Pattern seen on "Warmwater Fly Tyer."... The Orange Foam Spider.

Thanks everyone. It feels good to have turned them out. Nothing here was done by the book. The materials were scrounged; only the pattern instructions were there for me to follow - and I didnt follow THEM very closely.

Chris - I've re-taken up the fly rod. 30 years ago I had a a few passing chances at one. Today, Im trying it again.

Thanks for the links and suggestions on the whip finisher. Tooty is right - you can do without it. But I think it makes a better looking "bug," and I reckon people have perfected this stuff for a reason. Plus the bluegill around here are FUSSY. I cant get them interested in anything but the small stuff. For that, Im gonna need TOOLS!! LOL

David check out Lefty Kreh and Bob Clouser demonstrate whip finish on you tube one of the best to make it easy to understand different techniques.

HEY DAVID THEY LOOK GREAT FOR FIRST ONES , BETTER THAN MINE 30+ YEARS AGO. I don't use a whip finishing tool and don't use that knot for that matter., Never have. It's a more traditional knot especially for dry flys. I looks more professional , but not mandatory. If ya need any supplies hooks or anything let me know in an email...... or call ya got my number.
Vince is right and they don't have to be perfect to catch fish......The two you posted pics of will absolutely catch fish !!!!!!!

Good looking bug David here's a Youtube video my friend made that shows him making a beetle it's pretty good and towards the end he shows how to make a head and use the whip finisher. May help some.

Thanks, Dick.

They get easier, as you go . The third one almost fell into place. By the time I reach 12, I should have it down to production rates!
