Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

These 80 Bluegills were caught on Old Hickory Lake in front of Flipper's Bait Shop. I caught these in 2 hours on a flyrod...I was using a chartruse #8 popper with a Ligon Bream Killer trailing about 18 inches. The popper floats and serves as a strike indicater and the bream killer sinks...they have a choice of a floater or a sinker...I catch most of them on the sinker.

Nice stringer!!!

I love a floater/sinker combo when fly fishing for bluegills.  I've been using about a size 12 Deer Hair Caddis trout fly with a size 12 Scud in Olive or Orange about 9" below the DHC.  It's been really effective lately.
