Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I’ve caught quality and big numbers of Florida strain bluegill on this river system every year since 2003…..it was a great discovery and has out performed my expectations.

Thanks John and Dick…..everyone has great ideas about breaking down an area….this is a very vast marsh and it all looks the same……but when you zoom in you’ll notice groups of dead cypress trees sprinkled around the shoreline…..in order to catch bluegill in this area you have to fish the trees and stumps …..it provides cover but most importantly a bald cypress tree must have sand in the base to root and this in turn attracts bluegill which like to build their colonies in sandy areas….best way I can give you a visual is think of a base pad on a baseball field…these colonies stand out like that…l

Points and neck down inlet areas maybe .

All looks great Jeffrey. I think it would depend on the time of year and of coarse the water depths.

Just curious where other anglers would start fishing for bluegill if they were dropped in this location and had four hours to fish….,
