That's a pretty RBS John and he attacked a huge spoon!
The RBS are in a River minutes from my House ,I've caught them on your excellent Hard Bodied Ants Dick ! Its skinny water so I dont get them over 7" or so.But they fight great for their body dynamics and Man are they aggressive and plentiful . My biggest came out of the Lake that feeds the River I'm talking about and that one hit a #4 Crocodile Spoon meant for a Smallmouth!
Thanks Dick......I caught alot more RBS when I lived down in South Carolina thirty years ago......but they're hanging in there despite the brackish water......
Nice fish. I have never seen one up north here.
I'm hoping John! I caught some nice ones back in the 80s when I lived in coastal South Carolina.......we could catch them all day on the Edisto River on beetle spins tipped with a cricket during the summer.......had several of those hundred fish days and there would be some nice ones in the mix........but on that river you didn't catch many other sunfish species.......but as you stated they are aggressive and the estuary has abundant food items available.........
Hopefully their aggressive nature keeps them in the game Jeffrey!
Thanks John.....they seem to be doing ok but appear to be dominated by redear and coppernose in most locations on the Albemarle......
Great RBS!
