Do you love big bluegill?
My personal preference is poppers with yellow and chartreuse......

I also remove the back hook from a small floating jerk bait like a Rapala and add a 3 foot extension of line with one of these bugs tied on and have good success. You have to be in relatively open water because you can't control the rig very well with that bug dangling behind but it catches fish.....Nice change up!
My favorite all time BG popper would have to be an Accardo "Miss Prissy", size 8, in black and chartreuse. I don't fly fish, but I take this popper, trim down the rubber legs to about 1/2" long, and tip the hook with a beemoth, or maybe two if they're small...
On 4 lb line, with a good rod, I can cast this setup about 20-22' max. The big Gills' just absolutely inhale it!
Thirty-five years ago my grandfather "Foster" handed me a fly fishing rig and it had a yellow popping bug attached and I have had a hard time going away from it....It has caught fish everywhere I have tried it!
it seems anything that looks like bee is great on gills, they must like bees'
