Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Here's a screen capture (from video) of one of the parents of the cow pond bluegill. This was taken as it was being caught in Florida.

Anyone have any inkling as to what kind of bluegill this is?  (It's not a regular bluegill.)

He doesn't guide for a living.  I had offered to pay him but he wouldn't let me (I realized why when he ditched us).

Your guide actually ditched you?! You should post his name here, so that nobody else on BBG makes the mistake of hiring him.

In a couple or three years, I hope to do a Florida vacation. Epcot and the Magic Kingdom (haven't been to Disneyworld since the late seventies), Harry Potter, and a a day of guided fishing. General target will be big BG, but it would be awesome to catch a snakehead. I'm sure my wife will want me to find some way to freeze it and get it home to California if I do :)

Thanks, Nate!  But we ended up not getting enough footage.  We had a guide for a half-day but then he ditched us and we had to fish from the bank the remainder of the time.  Not easy fishing a strange river in another state from the bank.

You should post up the video!
