Beautiful fish Angelo......

You can use flies from 6-22 with little problems. All depends on your style of fishing. Don't be afraid to experiment and have fun

I only try Tenkara for about an hour or so, the tips feel so light I feel nervous about trying anything at that size (#12 and down) mostly those weighted nymphs, how does the Iwana or any tenkara perform using bigger size flies?

The Iwana is a nice rod. Dry is my favorite way to go. I also use the North Country spiders. They are designed to fish wet. about 3-4 feet below the top. #12 to #20 is the way to go. I plan on experimenting with weighted nymphs this summer to go a bit deeper.

Enjoy the rod...

Hey Joe,

I was using the 13ft traditional line with 4.5ft of 7x rio supple tippet with a #16 dry fly (mosquito)

Very nice fish. Tenkara is an excellent top water method for gills. What was your set up ?
