Tuxedo crappie will be coming to a shoreline near you in coastal NC pretty soon.........early arrivals in March followed by the army in late March into April.......

My favorite color of the Black Crappie is the spawning colors commonly referred to as a "tuxedo" among crappie anglers.......the crystal blue eyes are really cool too........

Always a ball to catch fish on light tackle.

The live grass shrimp below was threaded on this jig and produced this Crappie chunk and also fish from five other species in coastal Carolina late yesterday......A very durable and good sized jjg for our waters....

I can't get enough! The mild weather is allowing the slabs to hang around shallow....normally the rising water temperatures in May starts to usher them back out.......No worries....we had fun with them!
