Carl-Greg outfishes me only sometimes and I like it when he does ...umm as long as I 'm not doing horribly that is !

Yea Jeff the snap is more for convenience of switching lures and laziness .It does get hung up sometimes but I used it on the same rod I threw a spinner and caught a Pickerel. I tell myself the same thing "tie direct" but then don't do it sometimes. The White Coachdog is a nice Crappie pattern. Like you say it gets hit sitting there after some short pulls of the rod tip to get the blade sounds and bubbles going.

That's one of my old favorites!  But I like the "yellow coach dog" better than the white.  Do you really need that big snap swivel?  Most of my strikes came as it just sat there between jerks.
