Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

These are homemade by a local White Perch expert and I have only seen them in little bait shops around the sound......

I have swapped out the body on a beetle spin for a 1/32oz. tube and have done real well on it for gills. I have used black and green, and also blue and white tubes on them.

nice looking bait,a new twist for sure with the paint on the jig head.i agree david.i do much better with jigs alone or roadrunners in general.the one exception is my annual family trip to so ill .we kish a deep steep banked lake and my late uncle who started this trip years ago came up with possibly the deadliest technique for suspended scattered gills i know of.very small jig spinners in whatever color tipped with a wax worm.they put a 1/4 split shot about 3 feet above the spinner and slow troll open water just off the docks and boat houses and just catch bluegills crappies and white bass by the hundreds.it is really something to see

Pretty neat. Ive done a bit of that tinkering myself, with spinner jigs and tubes. Fact is I've tried all sorts of things on the spin-jigs. Still and all I don't find them to be the Wonder Lure they are often billed as, but I do catch a few fish with them.
