Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

A standard five gallon bucket is 11 7/8" wide. He didn't quite make that but he was right at 10.5 inches and what a fight on my spin casting rig to get him out of the grass......He came ashore with a big clump of weeds on his side.......

This fish was caught just a few days ago in the same general area as today's fish but I believe this is a Spawner just from location and aggressiveness......Again, not scientific but more of a belief.....Hope that helps you Jim.....

Going to see if the tides are right this morning.....forecast calling for highs in the low 90s down here in coastal South Carolina........Water temperatures are climbing through the mid 70s now.....

Thanks Dick and John.....it was exciting to get into the hay makers.......It's a bit harder to find quality Gills from the bank on public waters but even a blind chicken finds a kernel of corn every once in awhile....Three Cheers!

Thanks guys....we actually may be turning the corner on these Spring water temperatures down here in S.C......It would still be challenging back home in Northeast N.C. as the cold fronts and associated winds are dominating still.....Fish like this keep my adrenaline flowing! And it don't hurt to see the gills that Jim Gronaw landed either........Good Fishing to all!

Ninety degrees??? Man, we barely got out of the 50's here today! I need to move south!

Very nice.

These fish are beginning to spawn a little deeper in this particular creek because of local tides....There's roughly a 2 to 3 foot change here so the fish have adapted and nest outside the grass lines....roughly 15 to 20 feet from shore during high tide......Which also means they are caught a little deeper.......
