Thnx guys

dick - was using the Chubs before the autos. This little one was tyed using duck feathers and it seems to catch nice fish. About 2-3 years ago stuck a 17.5" crappie with this dinky jig pattern.

David - I agree with Ken, don't think Bluegill are big on migrating. Not saying they don't. My observations are based on reservoir fishing. I have found areas, @ LP, that have fish that display certain traits that other fish (same lake) don't. Also have found some areas that have a high ratio of hybrids.

Home base would be where the BGs food of choice is, or at spawning time, the beds. Fish have to spawn so they are going to travel back and forth to the deep.

How much do they move - not sure. There's a lot of variables - water levels (size of the lake), weather (water temps) - even bird migrations (lake fertilizer).

Amazing!

Ken Sobanski recently got me onto the idea that sunfish dont stray far from a home range. Some sources say 50 yards, some say an area of 400 yards, still others say they may radius as much as 3/4 mile from a core location.

SO accepting that that idea for just a moment - where in that general locale would you think they are calling "home base?" And why do you think it was where you caught it, it is isn't their core location?
