Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This little rubber legged pattern is called, "Humbug."
Its just a chenille tie, on a heavy hook. These are #8 Sproats.
The body color is contrasted by a dark/contrasting shellback.
Its supposed to use medium chenille, but I don't have any except the chartreuse seen here. Undeterred, I pressed on with what I had.
These have no weight but the hook, sooooo they sink slowly. This part of their purpose is intended for shallower waters.
Patience will be required to fish these.

Dick, I do find I like tying the simple "brim killer" styles.

Leo, not sure about specific seasons. Going by the Wilsons experience, I'd say
they are "warm water" bugs.
Judging by the fish in my pond, these should attract. Leggy, chenille things seem to be
accepted readily.

Excellent job. Man, perfect bug for the late winter to early spring. Although, aren't these for early summer generally?

Thanks, Big Man.
I think maybe the legs are too long, but I find the pond gills seem to like that.
