Do you love big bluegill?
Here's how I like to fish them Leo....Yellow is one of my favorite jig head colors for Bluegill....I bring the hook out right between the body sections leaving the little claws available to flutter behind the cricket when I tip the hook..I like tipping to help keep the bait weedless.....I've caught hundreds of big Coppernose River fishing in North Carolina and lake fishing in South Carolina...The last big group I purchased were in a local bait store down in South Carolina...

With a major crawfish hatch occuring as we speak in the coastal marshes of North Carolina.....it's time to bring out a few of may favorite "Baby Craws" that I catch spring Crappie and early staging Coppernose with.....
Thanks Leo and Jeff for the information...your both awesome!! I used to raise craw or crayfish when I was kid living in Michigan. When I was kid I would go to the railroad tracks during the spring near Keyko Margarine plant and turn the rocks over and pick up pregnant female crawfish full of eggs. I would put them in a fish tank with rocks so they could hide and feed them fish food or worms. You could see the eggs developing and eventually the young would fall off and go hide. I would continue to feed them fish food and watch them shed there skins. There pretty easy to raise, but I want grass shrimp. You guys have really gotten my interests with them.

Robert, are you looking for these?

They're about 1.5" in length, and about 0.25" in width. Goes perfectly on all small hooks/jigs from #4 to #10.
90% of the time I use 1/32 oz jig heads....I go smaller in cold water presentations....I most commonly purchase Eagle Claw Jig heads and I'll look when I get home tonight for the manufacturer of these baby craws or similar tails.....Louisiana waters are full of bably crawfish and panfish love them....I don't see as many crawfish in North Carolina but the baits are still effective in brackish waters.....
do you happen to know the name of the manufacturer for those lures?
Jeff, where do I get these baby crawfish lures and what size jig head were you using?
I have access to a few gravel pits and these tiny craws just get crushed in there.......You see tons of little crawfish in the shallows......I've cleaned panfish with stomachs full of them.....My dad once cleaned a four pound largemouth and a four inch crawfish was still alive in the stomach.....no acid damage and the crawfish was released back in to Toledo Bend lake to press on!
