Yes..yes indeed. I want the gills..primary focus is the gills. Me + gill = happy eating. Of course, if the bass between 15" and 17" happens to hammer it, they'll be my dinner too. However, the bass that hammer the spoons exceed 17", and the trout happen to be dinks less than 8". I don't keep them. Cats, no problem. I will have them regardless of the sizes for my hot oil baths.

" bass and trout hammer the spoon..."
and this is a bad thing, Leo?

Great catch. As Jeff indicated, it's a nightmare trying to catch the gills around here with spoons by itself. Find that bait ball, and toss the spoons in, then bam! Of course, the bass and trout tend to hammer the spoons before the gills could.

Great fish and good shot. Thats a waxie or some other grub on the hook?

Nice one Musky.  Great shot too.  For whatever reason, I cannot get a bite on a bait-tipped spoon at my local lake.  But, I can get Bluegills and Redears on a small chrome/blue Kastmaster on a slow steady retrieve when I find small shad nearby.  And that is a lot of fun because they really hit the lure hard!
