Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

These are Scent Wiggl'rs from the Bobby Garland line of soft plastics....I cut two of the three body segments off which drops these baits down to 1.5" and the hook is set up perfect to tip with crickets or grass shrimp....Twilight and Electric Chicken are my favorites in the MO GLO series.....

These are Eagle Claw 1/32 ounce Jason......I fish a bigger jig once we start warming up.....like to have some power in the heavy cover....They are carried in many retailers including Wally World and BassPro.......

What company do you get those jig heads from? What size?

David, I wouldn't dream of goin' "fission" without my Atomic Ants.........rolling on the floor (Thank you, thank you....don't forget to tip your waitress.... I'm here everyday)

Seriously, I do use the atomic ants...

Gotta love someone who sells a bait called the 'Atomic Ant'.

Yeah my tackle boxe(s) were full and I was content and then Tony posted a jig from the Northland Corporation. That trip to their home page only cost me about $75.00...about the same as a trip to Cabella's or Bass Pro Shops!

Northland tackle, and Custom Jigs and Spins have plastics galore for the BG angler.

Go here:http://www.customjigsandspins.com/ and check out the plastics, and soft body lures sections.. I love the Rat Finkee's, Ratso's, and Wedgee's........ and not just for ice fishing.....I use em' year round.

Cutting down the grub bodies is another o many Abney Classic Tricks, Carl! LOL

When I first got into this bluegill business, I was dismayed at the slim pickings among panfish-sized soft plastics. Then I spied Jeff's little modification and I haven't looked back. Anything within the 2" range is fair game, now. You just cut off the surplus from the front end and away you go.

I have tried to pare down the number of baits I use. With that in mind, I find the Charlie Brewer Panfish Slider Grubs work pretty well. The disc shaped tail gives a good accounting of itself and they come in a wide range of colors. I think of them as go to's.

But you can do this with any soft plastic grub, so give it a shot.

sure do look good. and you say you just cut them down a bit? no self respecting fish could pass those up

They have caught Perch and Crappie Vince...I choose to leave the body in tact if I'm targeting these other species tipped with a minnow.....Sliders are in my box too David...the paddle tail motion has always impressed me....These Bobby Garland baits are wide spread Carl including the entire line at BassPro and many of the nation's retailers stock quite a few.....a relatively low cost item as well....thanks for the information Paul...I'll take a look!
