Thanks guys.....Slip this is a 9" class Flier which is a trophy.......many are caught in the 4 to 6 inch class where populations have exploded and no fish have been harvested.....I have applied select harvest for over 10 years in key flier locations and it continues to pay off in my opinion........they will rarely hit a surface presentation coming more often at intermediate depths similar to a crappie as you suggested........often coexisting with shellcracker and hanging just above bottom......they are very tolerant of hypoxia and sometimes in low oxygen conditions only fliers and bowfin will hit..........
Quality flier at best.
that is a beautiful sunfish! how long is that one Jeff? do they hit the fly? they look like a mid zone feeder like a crappie
