These are blackwater perch Vince......the fins become bright red around here during the late winter spawn and many locals simply call them "red fin"....we had a very challenging bite David with nearly a 20 degree drop in water temps in just a couple days.....tipping with crickets was important during these trips.......These perch fatten up in the creeks of the Albemarle Sound river system before spawning in late January to February in the open shallows of our rivers and creeks John....
Nice shot Jeffrey and hope you guys had a great trip together for some quality time fishing etc...........
Beautiful combo.
Are those Perch going up a creek channel ?
Two fine specimens !Thata way Jeffrey.
Did you guys do any fishing without tipping, a comparison if you will?
I was hoping to hear that....
Good to see perch. I was unaware they were salt tolerant.
Two nice perch, Jeffrey! I cannot tell from the picture, but are they black water fish? Those bright orange fins are great. Here some seem to have the real orange fins, and the others have just regular colored fins. I am not sure why that is. Does anyone on here know why some are bright orange, and the others not?
nice perch, we used to catch them like that through the ice on coldwater lake in mich.
Thanks Ken....state record is a little under three pounds......these guys make great tablefare!
