Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Got a few fish today under a passing cooling front. Several gills were first, of a coloration I've never seen - maybe a localized thing.
A small bass grabbed my Cypert Minnow and this pretty male nailed a #10 black foam/red leg spider right off the boat ramp.
It was raining when I left Castle McScruff, and it stayed grey and damp.
A light breeze and falling temps, on a spitting drizzle day, followed me along the shoreline.

I always watch for any feeding at the surface. With a front passing through, I didn't expect much of a top bite. But there is a dock and a lot of woodsy cover near the boat ramp. That's always worth a few casts... And I got quite a lot of reaction.
Most were small piddlers, but a few bigger ones appeared, like this guy.
Also, because this is the South, our top bite will go on for 3 weeks or so. I expect to be fishing right up into November.

Can't believe the top water bite is still on.
