Do you love big bluegill?
Found the photo of the supposed 2 lb. Bluegill caught a few months ago in Greene Sullivan State Forest...... I've already made up my mind, now I'm looking for opinions...
What do you all think of this "Bluegill"?? Either way, it's a dandy catch.......

I think Jeffrey's big CN is more impressive due to those tremendous body dynamics...if that fish was 11 inches long I bet it would push 2 pounds with a girth like that!
Looks like a Lake Perris CN!
Jeffrey, I caught more Gillcrackers than I did anything else.
It's a saucer fish. Nice fish it looks to be a hen and I'm thinkin it's a hybrid.
Looks like a gillcracker, I suppose it could be close to two pounds. How long is the fish, it looks extremely thick.
I agree - it's a gillcracker, and sure doesn't look anywhere near two pounds, much less 2.25, to moi...
To my way of thinking, the lack of color on the fins, coupled with what appears to be a smaller mouth, seems to rule out a typical BG X GSF hybrid. The splash of color on the gill flap eliminates pure BG.... I believe it's a Gillcracker.
I gently implied as much to the very nice shopkeeper who showed me the photo, but I didn't make an issue of it. I also question the weight......
And, I caught tons of Gillcrackers down there today.
Tony...I think we might be looking at a big hybrid here. I see a slight crescent on the gill flap...mottling on the lower cheek...gillcracker? big male?
On the screen in front of me, the fish appears to be just slightly smaller than 'actual size', which would put it in the 10.5 to 11 inch long catagory...an excellent catch, but I do not think the fish has the possibility of weighing 2 pounds...maybe 1.25 to 1.5, max.
I have taken numerous BG x GSF hybrids this year that were from 11 to 11.5 inches, and none of them weighed 2 pounds. Great fish, but not a honest 2 lber, in my opinion. This 11.25 incher was a fish nearing 1.5 pounds, and was the heaviest hybrid so far this season.
Funny how the face and mouth aren't proportional to the body...that looks different.....Nice fish for sure...
