Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

looks like a sunken ice shanty or shed in 32 ft of water i spotted while mapping wixom lake today. what a find ! looks like a large school of bg or crappie congregating at the peak. no fishing rod today just mapping, but i saved this waypoint. just look at this detail. "you can swim but you cant hide"

Thanks Eric and Carl... I found the spot October 2013 and  i vowed to fish that spot the ice fishing season of 13- 2014 . I never made it the weather was always frigid and it was a four tenths of a mile walk. ice fishing 2015 I visited the spot quite a few times and there were always fish on the sides of the shack . I could not fish the location all the time because at times there would be population of fishermen near the area they would have certainly taken my spot when I wasn't present. So I had to fish the spot stealthily. plus any fish that I caught ruptured an air bladder coming up and I had to keep.

During open water season whenever I go by that spot waypoint I drop a slab jig and fish it vertically. The waypoint always rewards me with something small mouth bass, white bass, perch, bluegill and crappie.

Some times you just have to go fishing with electronic's as you have done here and leave the fishing gear at home....Congratulations slip sinker....should be productive for quite a few years to come too.....

Thanks guys... im looking forward to all this hard work paying off next year. starting with pre spawn staging of gills and bass at the main lake channel intersecting the secondary creek channels. i hope i can target more waypoint fish targets as i go along. here is the progress i have made so far. wixom lake is 2000+ acres but right now im only interested in this west leg of the reservoir. i am limited right now with a 5hp and the boat launch is located in the center of this section. hopefully ill have this mapped before they lower the water levels for this winter.

David haha... i am really no threat to any body of water only in the aspect of the catch and release of now smarter fish.
