The hand-painteds are doing well if they would ever spawn...I've seen a few depressions well out from the bank that look from a distance like beds, but as of yet no fry.  I need them to spawn so I can sell them.

Big! How are your painted gills doing Walt.....last I remember they were in captivity?

I actually didn't measure it, Jim.  On the big ones I like to get them back into the water as quickly as possible.  It seemed like a 12" fish to me.  I've only held one other bluegill that measured 12", a hybrid that weighed right at two pounds that I caught two years ago, and this one seemed as long as that one.  I had forgotten the net yesterday so I had to "net" this one for my client with my hand, and as soon as I had it in my hand I said to him that it was a two-pounder.
