My friend lives on the Eastern most bay (Armstrong Bay) just about 8 miles from the city of Tower... and I have spotted some great locations for possible Bluegill beds... but have never seen any fish on them.
When I go up there 2nd week of June it still freezes at night. Water is very cold... I could believe late July for the spawn... but given the size of the lake I can't see it warming up much before that. I appreciate any info you can forward to me.
The reason I go in June is the Bugs in July are terrible. I think the mosquito is the Minnesota State bird... Having said that... I would brave them if the Gill fishing was worth it. I catch lots of Walleyes but they don't fight that good (although they eat Great)... not much of a sport fish compared to the Bluegill.

Thanks for the reply

I go up to Lake Vermillion every couple of years to visit my friend. I would like to know when the Bluegills spawn in that area. It's up around Virginia in the Iron Ore Range. I usually go up about the second week of June... the water is barley over 50 degrees. I've caught gills at that time but very few.

I have always wanted to go up there when they are spawning. Any info would be appreciated
