It may be possible though It depends on alot of factors for me. Not willing to elaborate on all of them right now, but don't let me stop you from planning something. Catching gills is diffidently worth getting together for.

I have a few spots that I am expanding already, but I am defidently looking for that lunker spot. Even though I am from here I am not that familiar with where to fish for them yet as I lived in North Carolina for 7 years. I fished for them as a kid off the dock of a local cabin but never seriously until down south. I fell in love with them Down there and I am oh so glad I did.
As for my Father Inlaw, He is interested and I don't mind the companionship but he won't ever love the Gills more than his Walleyes.
Thanks for the welcome, I hope we have some good conversations.

Greetings fellow Minnesota Gill water lovers. I have been watching this group grow the past few weeks and thought I would join in. I am glad to have found this web sight. It is hard to find anyone who really enjoys catching bluegills let alone talking about them.
I am not a Duluth area expert on blue gills yet but I hope to have a good handle of the area lakes after a few years. I noticed the conversation on Vermillion, My father Inlaw has a cabin in Pike Bay that I visit frequently. I hope to find some good Gill areas there over the nexted few years as well. It will be hard though since my Father Inlaw is a walleye man and it is his boat. But I will be able to sneek out a little here and there.
I am looking forward to some good conversation on our favorite fish as the season gets into full swing. God Bless.

People dont want to give out info on where to get big gills up here, because people keep too many big ones and ruin the fishing. ice anglers are especially guilty of this.
I am getting another float tube soon and hope to take people out on some good lakes. I never tell names of lakes on the web though!

I was out in a metro area carry in only lake and caught 4 nine inchers, lost one that could have been close to ten. plus lots of 7 to 8s for the pan...

Hey Doug...
I got a hold of a guide up at Lake Vermillion... very helpful fella. According to him the spawn there is towards the end of June. I go up there early June and the water temp is barely over 50 degrees. This would seem to prove the Gills up there spawn in much colder water than here in California. 68 - 70 degrees here. Probably around high 50's low 60's up there. Goes to prove the versatility of this King of Fishes. given the length of time they have to complete their spawn they have managed to adapt to the colder water temps.
Sounds like early June in the twin cities would be a good time to look for them. Good luck mate.
