well after dealing with some neck and arm pain the past week... ( i havnt been able to flyfish) i decided to take the yak out and relax, paddle a little, and float some bobbers with some left over worms from the kids outing a couple weeks ago. never thought of ross lake being much of a bluegill lake, but while stick bait fishing for bass i had quite a few strong bluegill tugs. so i catch quite a few small bg's and a bonus 9.2 incher. sat side saddle most of the time ... just relaxing.
Anchor trolley on the j-boat sounds like a great plan.
took delivery of my anchor trolley kit for the yak. easy to install with the rivots supplied. should be able to test it out this afternoon. may even hook one up to the jon boat.
thanks guys... the yellow perch was a complete accident... i was skipping a unweighted senko style worm texas rigged under the bushes... caught one earlier in the year of 14"... the lake completely surpriseds me on the occasional jumbo perch... it doesnt fit the profile of a typical perch lake.
but the point is got up close in the skinny water with the kayak.
Great job in the kayak!!
I'll agree with that! Darn tasty, as well!
Last year, one of my friends had his yak in the river here, casting artificials for Stripers. He ended up catching a 30 lbs Blue Catfish; it towed him around for an hour!
that is one nice yellow perch.
