Looking for info.

Would like some info on kayaks. I told myself never happen because your setting so low. Now I see they have done wonders with the seats so my interest is back somewhat. I would love to check into them as far as comfort which ones I should be looking at and maybe a propulsion system foot or small electric. Again Just looking for now with a couple back surgeries I want to look long and hard. Strictly for fishing.

What Andy said, and a bit more.

Im nearly 60 and would not want to manhandle one of those Hobies.
I had one for two years, and the best thing ever invented is the Mirage drive system.

But they are not for the weak. I threw my back out with the thing, getting it loaded. If I had a trailer for it that I could back down to the water (boat ramp), or maybe a premium dolly for cartage, I'd consider one.

As nice as it was, I still got swamp ass from the molded seat. There are two reasons to go with a yak:

distance legs

keeping your butt dry.

The Pro Angler is as nice as they come, super deluxe. But if you want a kayak for back woods banging and putting in at rough and un-tended locations, well... get you some help for the Hobies.

People love Hobies while on the water in over 18" (assuming you are looking at pedal drive). They are pricey and heavy; lots of people trailer them. The PAs are like little bass boats. Mostly if you can spare the cash and will generally be putting in where there are ramps, they are very nice.

Hi Guys... I Was watching the Hobie World Championships from Holland on TV this morning. Do any of the members own one or have tested one out? I'm looking to buy a Kayak and there are literally hundreds on the market... It's mind boggling and a little intimidating to say the least. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm not a Big guy 6'1" about 220lbs and 60 years old (If that has any effect on my choice)...

Working on the rod storage and console. The seat will be over where the clamp is so the console will be between my knees. Tested stuffing a couple of rods in and it works fine. The rods are fed in through the console, under the seat, tankwell and stern. There is a divider in the channel so the eyes won't hang up on each other. I should be able to slip both rods in and have a little extra room for a small bag and close a hatch over them before paddling out through the waves.

Dry fit; they are not glued in yet.

Nice fish. An unusual pale coloring, too.
