Do you love big bluegill?

does anyone enjoy catching white or yellow bass. I catch a lot while crappie fishing a nearby lake. Fun to catch, but are heck on tube jigs, seem to tear them up after you catch a couple

I am a huge fan of white bass.  That was our bread and butter fish growing up in Nebraska.  Lake McConaughy in the sandhills was usually our destination, and we would sometimes catch stringers of 'em!  They fight hard, too!

I catch them in an 80m acre lake in southern IL , Lenzburg, in excess of ten lbs and yes what a fight!!!!  I was amazed to see my wife catch a 7 lb one by herself as i was reelin in a channel cat twice that size . These lake are every where there as once were strip mines for coal and up to 70 ft deep ...I see things swim by that cause me to avoid swimming or fallin in lol.  But yes gotta love those white or striper bass...great eating.

I always found whiteys to be very reliable on Lake Murray, above Columbia, South Carolina. When everyone else was after bass I would just as soon catch white bass in the causeways around Dreher Island State Park.

My favorite time was to go out about two hours before dusk and set up in the cut slough between the islands of the state park. Sine they are schoolers, I just watched the fish finder. You can see when a mess of the white's would come along. I'd just drop a worm on 'em and BAM -  fish on!

Now I don't love to clean fish as much as I like fishing, so half a dozen really bigguns would be enough for me. That usually didnt take long to achieve, since they are ready biters. My family would sneer and snicker at me out there catching those white bass... but I didnt care.  When I get my boat next year, I can tell you this: I will be looking for more whitey's at Lake Murray.

I do alot of white bass fishing in our lake. I am told by the DNR that we have the best population of white bass on the west side of Lake Michigan, We use road runners and twistertails. They are a blast to catch in the spring when they are spawning,

white bass are great gamefish and at times can provide busy action like no other.  we call them silvers. they often bite when other species have lockjaw. silvers have chased many a skunk outta my boat. use a bait that resembles a shad. cross a white with a striper and the result is my favorite game fish---- wiper (hybrid).

the yellow bass is often considered a nuisance---???  yeah, they're small, but eager and aggressive. just match up with light or ul tackle. try a double jig rig and catch 'em 2 at a time. i catch a hundred yellows every oct while searching for wipers.

whites and yellows are good choices for the young or beginning angler or anyone who likes a little action.

I use to catch them lots with ultra light, now talk about fun. In the spring we catch them in the Maumee River. Later we can go out on Lake Erie and its not a problem to catch a couple hundred. We go out on the big water and observe the Seagull. They are the true fishing machine. Pull the boat up to where the gulls are busting the water and hang on to you knickers.
