Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

What state would you choose to fish Bluegill if you could only pick one?

We are fortunate to have members from all over this great nation...One of my favorite things about Bigbluegill.com is the instant connection with the people that love and enjoy the same things that I do when it comes to all things Bluegill from folks all over the country.....Many of us have also had the great experience of fishing several different states whether vacationing, traveling for work or as a result of moving..... If you could pick one state to fish Bluegill, what state would it be and why? Thanks for sharing and I expect this may be a difficult choice for some and very easy for others.....Again, thanks in advance!

I have fished a few states and enjoyed each of the states but I will pick this great state of South Carolina. I'm in the land of lakes within an 1 hour to 2 hours from my home. I fish Hartwell, Russell, Clarks Hill, Greenwood along with 3 smaller lakes and I have the Saluda River 1/4 of a mile from me. And of course Santee! Trout fishing, can be on the Chattooga and Upper Saluda in 45 minutes and one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever seen but don't get to fish much Lake Jocassee.

I pick South Carolina!

South Carolina is second on my list because I don't live there anymore...I still get down there and get to fish which is a good thing....I would be just fine if I was told I could only fish South Carolina!

My #1 state to fish for bluegill would be Nebraska, because my Dad lives there, and then he could go with me. :-)

Nobody could argue that Bruce....you sneak down to North Carolina enough to keep your saw sharpened...LOL....My dad gets here 6/6 and I'm bouncing off the wall already...Good for you Bruce, I know what you mean! The beauty of this discussion is how many folks like it right where they are....Bluegill fishing does that for us where many other species wouldn't.....

Can you imagine a country wide tour starting in Wisconsin....heading north to the far reaches of Minn and back.....down thru Iowa, then Nebraska....head east to the Carolina's, then spin up the east coast thru Maryland and Pa, then finish in upstate NY at the finger lakes before coming home and getting on a flight to Perris Lake Ca.?....can you imagine how many BBG members I could meet on a quest of this kind?.....not to mention how many gills I could ravage along the way.....Bucket List!

Best plan yet Bill.....I could maybe catch a gill under ice too.....sounds cool!

If you do go Ice fishing you will be cool

Excellent, Bill!!!!  I can tell ya, that the bluegill in my backyard are gettin' pretty big.

Now that would be a good fishing trip. Couldn't agree more.

I'd like to be able to choose the state of relaxation for my BG fishing.  I miss fishing for fun. Too many demands on my time these days.

I've been there Tony....it's a great place and better when the fish bite.....

I would like try my ancestral home state of Mississippi. The is plenty of good water to fish, just don't fall out of the boat--too many alligators.
