Got two! TOTALLY AWESOME TOOL!
Did you ever get one? How well does it work? I have a hard time removing hooks. That red plastic thingy with the large ends with slits, I can't figure out how to use at all.
Sharon, I bought two of the Unhookum tools. It is a quality, well made tool that will easily fit into a bluegill mouth. It took more getting used to than I was willing to suffer through, sorry to say. My problem, not the tool's. It's like everything else with bluegill fishing and me. If I have a way that works, I'll look at the new fangled stuff, try it, and go back to what I'm comfortable with. For removing hooks from a bluegills mouth, that would be the surgeon's locking hemostats. So simple, even I can do it on the first try.

Those red things you mentioned will fit in a very large bluegill's mouth. Not in the ones we catch all the time that swallow the hook.
I really am not dissing Terry's Unhooum tool. Like I said, it is a quality tool and it works. I just still prefer the hemostats, maybe because I didn't give Unhookum much of a try out.
Understood. I just prefer the easiest route myself.
I ordered a UnHookum tool for the wife. It was a novelty for a while but we both use 5 1/2" curved tip hemostats only now. They fit in even the smallest bluegill mouth and can be used with surgical precision.
Bluegill Sharon- If you can figure out how to send a PM here with a snail mail add., I and the wife will send a pair or two. Illinoisgiller
I already have some of these somewhere in a jar from the veterinary clinic. I'll have to find them and put them in my fishing bucket.
I'm with you Boogieman, I use the same hemo's. Work just fine. Don't need tools.
Jen, I never meant to turn you into a guy. If it ain't broke don't fix it kind of guy. SO...... I am going to give the Unhookum a better chance to prove itself. I think I'll leave my hemostats at home next trip so I have to use the Unhookum. I do think it is a well designed tool and I am just too lazy to get used to it. I'm also too lazy to fly fish. Too much arm flappin' and that strippin' thing! I don't understand how women do that strippin' thing out in the water. No wonder you want to be a guy and do guy things, like never change!
