Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

8-3: Catch of the Year

Just when I thought my luck had run out on the summer I pull one more trick out of the hat.  just completed the best summer of fishing of my life with records for largemouth, stripers, and catfish both channel and flathead. Then last week was excited to land a 11.75 inch Bluegill, which i my lifetime second biggest behind a 1 pound 11 ouncer I caught about 10 years ago out of a local golf course pond. Here is the gill from last week caught in southern California.  Man, I got a soft spot for panfish.

This week went back to the same spot only got two takers and one was this Blugill of a lifetime and the other about a one pound gill. The bigger fish of the two looked like a bike tire and I was just in awe of it. It measured just under 12 inches, but looked to be just as tall as long. Even though it measured the same in length as the fish last week it could have probably eaten it. got a measurement, took a pic, and let it go. Anybody know of someone who does facsimile fiberglass mounts?  With the pic and measurement im sure I could get something done.

got to love those gills

What a huge gill, wow! Those bass you're holding are also hogs.
