Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

A size 10 Mustad aberdeen hook hooks about 10 times as many fish as a same sized tear drop jig. I rarely had a bite where I didn't hook up.

A size 10 Mustad aberdeen hook gets swallowed a LOT. The easy hooksets on the first hint of a bite do help out with that though.

5 spikes (bee larvae I believe...look like maggots to me) seem to be the magic number to stuff on a hook for what seemed to be an irresistible treat for the fish. I probably got bites about 5 to 1 over a wax worm.

Crappie meat seems kind of mushy and not nearly as tasty as bluegill.

I should attach a treble hook on my bobbers to catch some big bass.

IF THE FISH ARE AGGRESSIVE, I CAST OUT A HOOK WITH OR WITHOUT A SPLIT SHOT & RETRIEVE IT SLOWLY. THIS TECHNIQUE LEADS TO LESS SWALLOWED HOOKS.
