Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I took my float tube and my 7', 3-wt St Croix fly rod along with some woolly buggers and cap spiders to Loy Lake today for some fun. Boy, did I ever have fun!! I caught them on the beds and brought home 44 redear sunfish between 7-10" and 31 nice bluegill. I threw back another 75 or so bream that were too small, as well as 40-50 crappie that were too small. Now I have to clean them, UGH!

Nice bunch of shellcrackers..fun ain't it
My arm was sore Neal, that's why I left after only four hours on the lake. Heck, I didn't even fish one quarter of the lake before my arm was tired. If I had stayed a couple of more hours I could probably caught 300 or more fish. I was getting a hit on almost every cast. It was fun!!

They never disapoint do they, thats why we love us some bluegill.

It was another banner redear day today. I brought home 47 bream, 35 redears and 12 bluegills and threw back another 50 bream that were too small. I caught them all in one small area where they were spawning.

Man, that is a "mess" to clean, but I have that problem right now. I'm fish hungry and the bite almost nil.
