Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I'm new to the site and live in Eastcentral Florida on a 5 acre retension pond. Fishing used to be great here, I fish flies and would catch many bass, bg and crappie. Since a number of otters have taken residence the fishing is bad. I am going to a 500 acre lake near DeFuniac Springs for 3days on March 1,2, and 3rd. I never fished this lake before. I choose the date for the full moon. This is Kings Lake any suggestions. Thanks Bob

I'm about an hour away from Defuniak and have King Lake on my list as somewhere to wet a line. Haven't been yet so I can't clue you in. I've heard of some 2lb gills from it though. Here's a link to an RV resort there that I thought of staying at and asking the people there where to fish for the big boys. You might want to give them a holler and see if they can put you on them. http://www.sunsetking.com/

Boogieman
Boogieman Thanks for the comeback. I will be staying at sunsetking and renting one of their pontoons. I have a 16' Garvey I built with a 25hp 4 stroke and 55# trolling motor for inshore fishing. I havn't seen the lake. I understand lots of flats some flooded trees, grass and pads. With no electronics, I have no idea where the structure is. In this part of Florida Is early March usually good big bg fishing in the flats shallow or deeper? I understand there is rip rap near Sunset King and a dam? I'll probably hit trees if their visable, hoping there is some grass at this time of the year. Since I like catching any thing Ihope to get something going. I plan to catch and release. Thanks Bookieman
