Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

 I watching Moby Dick right now , and getting in to it,makes me ready to go chase that great white bluegill, there she blows!, it tortures my soul, I know it's out there just waiting to taste the steel of my hook, it will fetch me a great premium in my  heart,that great white bluegill tasks me, I ready for the greatest hunt of all . So what type of good fishing trips do yall have planned this year ?  LOFR

Man that sounds like that would be a great thing to do

I had a friend who put a stabilizer on his canoe made out out a piece 6" PVC pipe. Worked out great.

Ive seen all kinds of them, some home made and some bought. Dunno if Ill have one, well see.

Where is the stabilizer placed on the canoe and how did your friend attach it?

John If I tell you how he done it I'd be lying. All I can say is he said it worked and stabilized the canoe so he could move around more but I've never been a canoe person so it really never interested me and that was quit a few years back.  I sure he C-clamped it on so he could take if off if he knew he was going to go down narrow creeks. He's no longer with us but I think I can try to find out for you. I do know the pieces connected to the stabilizer was connected across both ends and both sides of the canoe.

Sounds about right Dick. The ones Ive seen are added like secondary thwarts, bolted to the tops pf the gunwales. Some few don't do it that way, but most home made ones do just because it is easiest.

Hey John, google the words 'canoe stabilizer' and you'll see tons of ideas. From what I can make out, the simpler ones are just attached along the gunwales about mid ship or lightly forward. Some of these pivot up and down to account for displacement. A few others are affixed at the REAR; Ive seen these on jon-boats where they are called 'drag' or 'hull stabilizers'. For a fly caster, this would possibly be a better option, since it keeps all the hardware behind you.
