Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hi :  I just found this forum and wanted to introduce myself.  I've read through 100+ pages of discussion and have picked up alot of info so far.  I primarily fly fish using  a Powell Light Touch Emerald Green 7' 6" long 4 wt rod with a J Ryall Jr. reel, or a bigger set-up using a Winston 7wt rod( my all around rod I use for 90% of the fishing I do).

Anyone near Cornelius/Charlotte area that can share a good fishing spot with me, send me a message so that we can hook up and go fishing.

Thanks,
Marty

Welcome to the site!
Marty I lived in NC for three years. When I fished I fished with a older gentleman that knew lake Norman like the back of his hand. He knew crappies better than anybody else I know. I have plenty of good memories on that lake and we caught many crappies together along with bluegills. Another good lake that was good for big gills was Hickory Lake. Use the catch lot of big bluegills and most being caught on catawba worms. This has been many years ago so don't know how is is today. I can tell you there is a lot of snakes but we didn't bother them and they didn't bother us. The wife has family in Concord and Kannapolis we usually manage to get down there at least once a year. If its possible maybe they will be some good prospects for you. Welcome aboard and GOOD FISHIN....
Welcome to BigBlugill Marty. I live close by (Matthews) and fish Mountain Island Lake as much as I can. Been a little tough this year, with my work and all the weather storms popping up all the time.  How do you fish (boat, bank, etc.)? I use a kayak and put in at Latta Plantation. I'll PM you when I get a chance to fish again.
