Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

if i'm casting some small jigs/lures, would switching from using 6lb test to 4lb test make them cast further?

Yes!

I use Berkley Ultra-cast in 4 lbs test mono on my UL pole.

That said, I also use 10 lbs test PowerPro on my 7' Medium IM6 graphite spinning rig.  That thing gets some insane distance!  The microscopic diameter of 10 lbs test braid, plus with it's limpness (is that a word), it doesn't clog the eyes of the rod in the cast.

Just wait, though.  I'm in the process of acquiring a 10' 9" ML Steelhead spinning rig.  I had one in my hands last week.  That thing casts a light lure halfway to the moon with any effort.

About the heaviest thing I use is 8# test on my bigger rods, my light weights get 4# test, never understood while peole spool up with 12# or bigger line anyway.
