Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

That if you have only a few minutes to fish, your line can wrap itself around your pole and tie itself into about 3 knots?

That no matter how hard u try u will never take a picture as good as John Sikkila.
speak for yourself!

Yeah - whatever happened to John?

I was

That "good fishing" days are in direct proportion to the amount of minnows in the minnow trap? Less than 3 doz, hardly any fish bite. More, I get one fish after another.

I usually don't have a big problem with my line wrapping around my pole(s).  It does sometimes happen, but it's not that big a deal.  Now, my kids on the other hand........

My second oldest step-son can wrap the line around the pole so bad that I usually end up cutting it off, and re-tying everything.  He does this about every 15 minutes or so.

Happens way too often for me. The lines were fully prepped before hitting the water. Then during transport to the water, the lines tangled up lie a bird's nest. Take more time to unravel them than to put them together on the water.

you ever noticed that the more time you expend untangling lines and changing lures directly coincides with the most fish activity on the water?fish swirling, jumping, bait fish being smacked from the surface by schooling fish?

Yep..yep..it's the fish gods trying tricks on you. A couple of 13"+ bass jumped about 5ft away from me, including a nice large carp jumped out of the water just in front of me, making fun of me while I untangled my mess.

true, and have you ever noticed that the fish always are most active on the other side of the pond? Until you sneak over there, of course.

Yep..Kind of funny when you hunt the spot that you know will be productive, later just to find out that the productive area that you're hunting in had completely been moved to the other side. That happened way too many times to count.

Take two (or more) people out to such a place.  Everyone is dressed in camo, with light line and light gear for stealth.  One person is the obvious "decoy".  Set all the stealth fishermen up, concealed.  Once it's established that the fish are moving away from the folks, send the "decoy" to the other side, loudly.  Have the concealed fishermen set baits in the water before the decoy leaves, so the baits are already there when he/she flushes the fish to the concealed fishermen.
