Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hey guys, I am waiting for cold weather and ice season, but considering that seems like it may be a while in Nebraska, I think I am going to break the float tube back out again. I bought a Humminbird Ice 35 flasher for ice fishing that I want to try to use on my float tube for vertical jigging. Has anyone else done this? Anyone have any tips or suggestions?

By the way Bryce, which float tube make and model do you have?

I have a Cumberland from Classic Accessories.

Good tube.
I may be going to one next year.

The Damaged Knee Incident of this last season may have finally broken me of my whole canoe-kayak experiment.
After several different attempts, I've come to the conclusion that I am a bit too bulky, myself, for these sorts of watercraft. Since shrinking myself seems to be a rather long and lengthy process, I expect to be looking elsewhere for aquatic mobility. The only type of paddled craft yet to try is the wide flat sort with elevated seat.
Nevertheless, my leg joints seem not to welcome the exertions required to enter and exit these vessels. That appears to be a hard fact.

Float tubes, on the other hand, are actually therapeutic where knees are concerned. You simply walk in and walk out of the water, and the exercise of kicking the things around is good for the old joints. Their downside is lack of speed, so I must find waters where that is not a concern.

nucanoe or gheenoe... electric trolling motor gets about 4mph

i know how you feel in a way.... my neck and arm was sore most of the year... only took the yak out once... i had an offer from a family member to sell to and im going to hopefully turn it into a gheenoe or a nucanoe. i think with my disabilities the nucanou might be the better choice.

i probably wont be able to take the jon boat out next season until i replace the motor with an electric start.

I may also be selling my canyak for something else.
A NuCanoe looks nice, and probably much easier to get in and out of. Finding one may be the only problem. New prices will keep me away, so Id hope to find used.... Not easy to do

what i really like about the Nucanoe is the option to stand. for me i find that a necessity for my lower back pain relief. the grab bar is a great option.

Ive seen em, spec'd em, drooled over em, etc.

Now Im wanting one even more!

admittedly my paddling days are over... i was going to rig my min kota to the kayak but it still does not solve the problem with not being able to stand.

I may be right behind behind you....
So. you're going to go float tubing during a Nebraska winter?
You, sir, are intrepid!

My first reaction to the flasher is, it is too big and bulky for a tube.
I'm pretty sure they also take a large, heavy battery?
Now, for anyone plucky enough to go tubing in Nebraska during Winter, these things might not present severe limitations. But, if it was practical I think we'd see more people doing it, ya know?

Ask there's my 2 cents. Bulk and weight are gonna be a challenge.
